Who is eligible to vote? To vote in U.S. federal elections, you generally must be a U.S. citizen, be 18 years old on or before Election Day, meet your state's residency requirements, and be properly registered by your state's deadline.

Lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), DACA recipients, TPS holders, visa holders, and other non-U.S. citizens cannot vote in federal elections.

For Ohio's November 3, 2026 General Election, the deadline to register or update your voter registration is October 5, 2026.
